Be Here Now Lesson
After returning from a walk yesterday (cross that off the list), I thought it would be a good time to tackle some pruning (to cross that off the list) while I had on my outer gear of hat, gloves, etc. I grabbed the shears and gave the butterfly bush its new start for the year and then started working on the Fairy Rose. I was busy pruning away, my mind already on the fresh growth and blooms that would appear over the next few months. Finally, I looked down and saw I was trampeling the crocuses making their way up through the leaf debree and the recent snow. Stop. Breathe. Smile. Be grateful for what is now.

A Kool Way to Dye
My first Kool-Aid dyeing experiment was trying to make a pink/purple soaker for Allie. It turned out more black and red. Anna said it'd be perfect for Allie to wear to her first Chicago Bulls game!
I had a little bit of Chicago Bulls yarn left over and wanted to continue to experiment so I overdyed it with Berry Blue Koolaid. I like the way this looks! It's not much yarn--maybe enough for an ipod cover.
The finished project.
While I was dying the Chicago Bulls yarn, I dropped into the dye bath a few strands of other yarns just to see what would happen. Each strand of dyed yarn is beneath its original strand. My favorite is the bottom one---the brown yarn dyed into a teal.

Snow Day!
Hey family in Chicago and Indonesia! Thought I'd show you whassup back home in NC today!
I added this image Tuesday morning. Necklace idea, Widya?
Skeletons of Easter Lillies reminding us that they will one day bloom again.
Widya asked about this plant. It's called a holly bush. Nannie used to call it "berthadye" holly but I can't find any reference online for that particular name--or anything spelled like it.
My beautiful butterfly bush! I was just getting ready to prune it down to 12 inches the other day. Now maybe the snow has done it for me!
Oops. Chore for Dad. Part of fence collapsed.
My garden beds. I just cleared out the asparagus and Autumn Joy sedum the other day and planted onions.
Habib, polar dog.
Rosemary under snow.
